West Field Elementary is located in Edmond, Oklahoma, and is in the Edmond Public Schools district. The original project was designed with a series of classroom pods, shown in purple on the plans below. The school was initially built with a central corridor and common functions including a gym, library and cafeteria. The Phase 2 addition, shown in grey on the plans below, added 21 classrooms, six of which also function as storm shelters. This project is an example of storm shelters being implemented as a functional part of the daily use of the school.
